Our Mission

Diligent Homeschool Recordkeeping System believes homeschool families need to be accountable and diligent to keep good records and to remain focused on their children, while complying with the laws related to homeschooling. We establish a way for families to be diligent in creating accurate records of their children's schooling in an easy, time-saving manner. This diligence is a testimony of accountability within the home, as well as a provision of the documentation needed to comply with laws.

Our mandate is derived from Deuteronomy 6:6–7 (emphasis added):

And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

We believe strongly that our tools and resources can help other families teach diligence to their children, while maintaining accurate records, in an affordable, effective manner that will bring order and harmony to the homeschool experience.

Our History

Hi there! I'm Elizabeth Lawrence, a veteran homeschool mom and software engineer. Throughout the first several years of homeschooling, I kept tedious homeschool records by hand of my children's assignments, grades, report cards, and portfolios. I found, though, that there was a lot of repetition in entering information on various forms and in recordkeeping books, a process that was prone to errors just due to its tedious nature.

I thought that there must be a better way and thus came up with the idea of having a secure online portal where I could enter my children's assignments one time, which would generate their lesson plans. Then I could go back to those same assignments and mark them complete, along with grading information, and create report cards from that, without ever touching a calculator or wondering if all information had been calculated correctly.

After setting up the structure and using the system myself, I realized that this system would probably be useful to a lot of other homeschool families who also struggle with keeping diligent records. So the system was built upon in order to accommodate many families, and here we are today!
